Income Replacement Benefits

If you become disabled as the result of an automobile accident, you may be eligible for weekly income replacement paid at 80% of your net (after tax) weekly income to a maximum of $400. These benefits are available for up to two years if you are disabled from your own occupation, and up to age 65 if you are disabled from any occupation.

Caregiver Benefits

If you provide full-time care to dependants, and are disabled as the result of a car accident, you may be entitled to receive caregiver benefits of $250 per week for one dependant, plus $50 per week for each additional dependant.

Non-Earner Benefits

If you do not qualify for Income Replacement Benefits or Caregiver Benefits and you are completely unable to carry on with your normal, everyday activities, you may be eligible to receive a weekly payment of $185.

Medical and Rehabilitation Benefits

 Medical and rehabilitation expenses such as drugs, physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment, dental expenses, etc., including parking and some travel to and from medical appointments are covered by the standard maximum amount, which is $100,000 for up to ten years. If you are catastrophically injured, the maximum is $1,000,000 for life.

Attendant Care and Housekeeping Benefits

If you need to hire someone, including family members, to help you as a result of injuries from an accident, you may be entitled to attendant care and housekeeping benefits.

The standard maximum for attendant care is $3,000.00 per month for up to ten years or until the benefits are exhausted, whichever occurs first. If you are catastrophically injured, the maximum is $6,000.00 per month payable for life.

Housekeeping expenses may be paid up to $100.00 per week for up to two years. In catastrophic cases the benefits may be payable for life.

Death and Funeral Benefits

If you die as a result of an automobile accident, the standard amount which will be paid is $25,000 to your eligible spouse, $10,000 for each dependant, and a maximum of $6,000 for funeral expenses.

This list of Benefits is not complete or exhaustive. Many types of expenses are covered within these categories and many are not. Exceptions and entitlements apply.
